Avett's First Birthday

The day you were born.

And today on your first birthday.

Avett, it is impossible to explain the love I have for you.
You brighten my day every morning when you wake up and your smile makes me incredibly happy.
When I think back on your first year much of it is a blur, and you can attribute that to being #3 in the birth order, but there are certain things I will never forget.
Nursing you to sleep for every nap and every bedtime.
Wearing you in the ergo pretty much 1/3 of the year.
You sleeping in our bed every single night snuggled close to me.
Your beautiful eyes and your delicate blonde hair.
The mutual love between you and your siblings and how happy you three are to see each other every single morning.
Your sense of humor and your adorable laugh.
How much I think you look like your dad and your Aunt Katie and your Grandpa Finnegan
Your need to be close to me and held pretty much all the time.
Your easy, peaceful and calm water birth.
I have loved this year with you and can't wait to experience everything this next year has to offer.
I think a New Years birthday is going to be awesome throughout the years.
You are special, loved, and your presence is valued so very much.
Happy birthday my sweet son!

Thankful

Every day I am so SO happy to spend my days with my children. Every day has difficult moments in which I have to remind myself why I am doing what I am doing and why it is valuable. Every day I look at my children and feel so in love with them. Every day I feel sad when I realize how much time has passed since each one first entered our lives. Fours years, two years, and ten months is not long for someone who has adult children, but to me it is significant. Truly, where does the time go? I wake up with a mixture of happiness and sadness. Happy for a new day to spend living out my current passion, but sad that another day has come and gone. I worry that my time with my children will end quicker than I am expecting. I fear it, but I'm glad the thought is always present in my mind. I think living without an awareness of your own mortality is worse. But I've come to realize the only way to overpower that fear is to live more fully. My children are heathy and thriving and growing each day and that is awesome. Every day I want to cherish my time, my life, and all the goodness I have to be thankful for. I have much to be thankful for.
LOVE. {especially to the one behind the camera}
