10 things today

These are 10 things I know today.

1 When you discuss and follow the moon phases on a daily basis full moon time becomes VERY exciting. The moon is amazing and beautiful.

2 Children learn constantly. You could "teach" them nothing and they would learn, it's innate.

3 My days are busy and exhausting, but they fly by. The days are long short and the years are short. Remember this always. Like how is he this big and adorable?

4  You can have fun with play dough at any age.

5 Contrary to my previous feelings, the beach is a good time.

6 My dad loves to fish and has passed that joy to my children.

7 You gotta do what ya gotta do. Like nurse your baby in the middle of Kroger while your other children take pictures of you and chew on bags of frozen vegetables.

8 Cooking with helpers is more stress AND more fun.

9 Summer 2013 has been the summer of rain. It has literally rained almost every day. I love rain so I cannot complain.

10 Whole foods is a great addition to the city of Savannah.

Little ones in our bed

I took this video the other morning after a night when both babies ended up in our bed.

Although we ARE a co-sleeping/bed sharing family, I had never even heard either of those terms until after Ezra was born.  For us, having our children in our beds has never been something we've done because we think it's what we should do, rather, it's something that's happened naturally since becoming parents 3 years ago.  Cambria slept in our bed sporadically until a year old and then slept in our room until 18 months when we moved into our house the day after Ezra was born.  Ezra was in our bed full-time for the first 8 months and has only gone a few nights of being in his crib all night since then.  I think having them in our beds at different times during their lives has made them feel more secure, connected, and comforted.  Sometimes we don't mind having an extra body in our bed and sometimes we go through phases where we can't stand it and do everything to avoid it.

Right now, we bed share with both our kids for different reasons.  Besides the emotional benefits, it's a lot easier to just bring a restless child into your bed at night instead of trying to get them back to sleep in their own bed.  And when you're as sleep deprived at Kyle and I often are, it's the most appealing idea at 3 am.  Although Cambria has been an amazing sleeper since birth, she's recently started waking up at night crying and upset and sometimes she will only be calmed by coming into our bed.  Ezra winds up in our bed almost every night when he wakes anywhere from 2-5 in the morning.  Plus, if we just left one of them to cry in their bed alone they would most certainly wake the other one up.  Nothing is worse than having TWO crying children at 3 in the morning.

I love being woken up by Ezra climbing over me saying "Mama, mama, mama, mama" until I open my eyes.  And on the nights when Cambria winds up in our bed it's nice being able to snuggle with her because she never lets me do it during the day. I oftentimes wonder if I'll miss these little bodies in our bed in 15 years and quite honestly, I'm not sure that I will.  It's nice at times, but I think having 7-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep every night sounds really, really appealing too :)

Running +2

This is what it looks like when I run with babies.
Excuse me, I mean one baby and one princess.
"No I princess!" is what Cambria says when she is referred to as a baby.
While I do prefer running alone, I also enjoy taking them out on the trail for some fresh air and nature watching.
Plus pushing 80+ pounds of baby and stroller makes my run more challenging, which I like.

Stopping at an obstacle.
Their reward.
On a random note, can you tell which of these two peppers are organic and bought at the farmers market compared to the one non-organic bought at Kroger? Yeah, kinda makes you think...

10 little thoughts

1. Ezra loves turtles.  And anything else that moves, crawls, walks, flies, swims, drives, etc.  He is interested in the world around him in a way that's different than Cambria ever was.
he's also got some dirty feetsies.
 2. Don't ever buy this stuff.  I got it a while back to make some vegan carrot cupcakes and couldn't believe how nasty it was.  It wasn't bad in the frosting, but by itself it really tastes terrible.  Plus, I'd rather just eat butter and sugar than all the weird ingredients in this stuff.

3. Ezra also loves getting into our recycling about 10 times a day.  The boy gets.into.EVERYTHING.

4.  We are officially in that weddings-all-the-time age group.  We've gotten 7 invites this year already! This one is for Erin & Kevin's wedding. So excited for them!!

5. Having one of these can really help you drink more water.  I take mine almost every time I leave the house and find myself filling it up several times a day.

6.  Cambria only wears dresses now.  A few months ago I started letting her pick out her own clothes and recently she's been picking only dresses. She likes to layer them with things that don't match and I love it! Easy way for her to be creative and to express herself.

7.  Buying pieces of clothing that I love has become important to me.  When I {hardly ever} shop I usually ONLY buy clothes on the sale rack and oftentimes settle for things that are the best deal regardless of whether I really love them or not. Recently though I've made a few purchases that aren't necessarily on sale but that I look and feel great in.  It's amazing what a cute dress or skirt can do for your self confidence.
The dress I wore to a wedding this past weekend. LOVE this dress!!  AND I went back to Express yesterday for a price adjustment and made 28 bucks!!! Woo!
8. Chia seeds are amazing.  Have you ever read about their nutritional benefits? I saw a big bag of them at the Savannah Food Co-op and decided to try them on a whim.  A little research later and I'm going to start putting them on everything! Someone else really loves them too...

9. Target got new buggies.  It was a very exciting day.

 10. My children love to dance. Here's proof.

Little Moments

I always try and enjoy the little moments, the ones that aren't crazy exciting or super eventful.
I think these ordinary moments are the ones I will look back on and remember the most.

A Mess

Ever walk around your house and see...
 A mess.
 And another one.
 Yet another.
And now a closer look at a game Cambria and Ezra play called "dump all the bibs on the floor then walk away to make another mess"
And a messy kitchen.
What could it be!?! Another messy room!
 This one wasn't toooooo bad.
Thankfully, I found my room still clean and intact.
Sometimes I feel like all I do is clean up my house only to do it all over again right after.
But really, I love cleaning up after my family and cooking them meals and dealing with tons of poop disasters and doing all the other house duties, because right now, that's my reality.
And I love it...most of the time. :)
Life is just too darn short to be unhappy with your everyday.

My apologies

I feel like I've been neglecting my bloggity blog lately and I apologize to everyone (mostly the grandmas).
I promise I'll start updating more about all things me, Kyle, Cam and Ezzy.
I really don't have a real excuse for my lack of posting....
On second thought, the two curious and mess-producing monsters I take care of can be pretty exhausting at times so that's probably why.
Or maybe it's because I do things like take both the kids to Target at 12:30 when neither of them have had lunch yet.
Or maybe because this little girl tries to battle us with her smart little brain everyday by saying things like "No mommy, I can do it, I big girl, I not baby like Ezra."
Or maybe it's because we oftentimes neglect housework and other "important" things to do stuff like attend Christmas parades.
Or watch daddy get dressed in amazement.
Or get our Christmas tree looking pretty.

Either way, I really don't have anything to complain about because life for me is truly good.
But I WILL be updating more often.
And I hope you'll be reading :)

{And in case any of you have been wondering, I HAVE been taking a picture everyday, I'm just waaaay behind on posting/organizing them!}
